Seeing all the anti-bullying campaign throughout all media forms brought all the miseries and the various contemplative soul-searching I subjected myself to when I was young.
I’ve always been a survivor — it’s one thing that I am proud to tell people whenever some first-time acquaintance or stranger asks me what my strengths are. There are other strengths that I’m not going to go into detail now, but being a “survivor” tops the list.
There’s a story behind the word . . . behind that strength. It’s not just something I randomly throw around. I remember the first time I heard this song, I was still young and stupid that I don’t even know the title and the artist! However, I continue to hum along and do the slow headbanging motions.
It’s chill . . . It’s from rock n’ roll’s glory days — an era when people love rock more than pop music (not that I have a big grudge against pop, but one does feel like most modern pop songs sounds awfully alike in some way). Anyway, Foghat might not be as big as The Rolling Stones or David Bowie in the 70’s, but they made an impression (at least to me) that will last throughout my shortening lifetime. As my fingers danced across the keyboard, composing this post, the welcome silence that I’ve been craving for months has finally arrived. In observance of the holy week that leads to Easter Sunday, everyone’s expected to be quiet and repentant, at least in an environment dominated by religious Catholics.
