Easy Fridays 007: It Ain’t Over Til It’s Over by Lenny Kravitz

If I can think of a Lenny Kravitz song that is timeless and can still make my heart beat fast, it’s It Ain’t Over Til It’s Over. It’s also a great song to just jam towards the weekend.

This song makes me a bit nostalgic and at the same time imagine driving to the south in an unknown destination with a couple of close friends with the car windows open whilst exchanging a couple of light conversations.

Happy weekend!

So when I was thinking of what song to usher in the weekend this time around, Allison Road was one of the firsts that came to mind.

Allison Road is the first song that made me fall in love with Gin Blossoms.  It’s also one of the first songs I learned how to play on my guitar way back when cellphones are bigger than wireless home phones and the internet is not that big of a deal yet.

It calms me down and it makes me a bit lethargic. After several hectic weekends, I think it’s time to hang up the dancing shoes and just stay at home — in bed — and relax.

‘Til next week!

MY PLAYLIST: Top 10 Tracks for January 2014

The first month of the year always compels me to start an overall fresh playlist to (maybe) last for about 3 months or so. A combination of old, new and obscure songs, I kick-start the new year with something different — at least for me.

In so doing, I’ve gone through my folders at the very first day of the year and was unhappy about it. Then I went scouring the internet for stuff that I don’t have but have already heard or even loved when I was younger as well as the current ones playing on the radio. Along the way, I’ve found more than I’ve expected. My search yielded more than enough to pamper my eardrums for at least the first quarter of this year. Whew! Finally, it’s the last day of the workweek and I’m gearing towards a sort of busy weekend. Like what they said: There’s no rest for the wicked . . . and I AM the wickedest of them all.

Anyway, vacillating between two songs to start-off the weekend was a dilemma that was solved as quickly as it presented itself.

There’s no better song to start the weekend than The Cure’s Friday I’m In Love — the ultimate soundtrack to the weekend.

So, without further ado, I bring you Robert Smith and his iconic guy liner-ed eyes and the rest of The Cure in one of my favorite The Cure songs.

Till next week!

MY PLAYLIST: Top 10 Tracks for November 2013

I’ve always been ridiculously fickle and constantly loves variety in the music I listen to — which is another reason why it’s so hard to find people who listen to the same music I’m currently deeply in love with.

However eccentric I may be, there’s extreme joy whenever I actually find someone who appreciates what I put out here and get really heart-warming comments and requests for more.  It goes to show that there are lots of other misfits out there who enjoy the same eclectic mix of songs I do.

Therefore, I dedicate these tracks to my kindred misfits — may we reign supreme in the face of the world of music!

Disclaimer: This list does NOT fit into a single category or genre, does NOT follow any commercial or non-commercial top lists like anything from Billboard. It’s just “my” list — ten of the most played tracks in my console that even lingers inside my head after the last note had drifted by.
